Each of the following three books was reviewed in the journal Nieuw Tijdschrift Voor Wiskunde. [57] 1) The First Nonlinear System of Differential And Integral Calculus: Volume 68, page 104, 1981. 2) The First Systems of Weighted Differential and Integral Calculus: Volumes 69-70, page 235, 1982. 3) Meta-Calculus: Differential and Integral: Volumes 69-70, page 236, 1982. Many months of behavior therapy with an excellent psychologist, and a daily dose of antidepressant medicine, prescribed by excellent psychiatrists, have enabled me to recover enough to lead a normal life -- except that I can not do mathematics anymore.

The arithmetic average is easy to understand, and can be used to define the classical integral in a straightforward way, readily understood by beginners. This very original piece of mathematics will surely expose a number of missed opportunities in the history of the subject." - Ivor Grattan-Guinness, from his review of Non-Newtonian Calculus [101] (1977). "[B]y far the most usual way of handling phenomena so novel that they would make for a serious rearrangement of our preconceptions is to ignore them altogether, or to abuse those who bear witness for them." - William James, as quoted in the book Pragmatism: A Series of Lectures by William James, 1906-1907 (2008). "I'm pleased that, towards the end of his life, [Benoit Mandelbrot] received due recognition, because it took a long time for the mathematical community to understand something that must have been obvious to him: fractals were important.

JianLi 23:33, 7 May 2006 (UTC) Wouldn't it be more practical to merge the book into Innumeracy, now a pretty dumb page, and make it into a true article? Bob, Rosalie, Jane, and I met with the distinguished mathematics-historian Ivor Grattan-Guinness (Middlesex University in England) and Chauvenet-Prize winner Thomas Hawkins (Boston University). On the Internet, each of the books can be read and downloaded, free of charge, at HathiTrust, Google Books, and the Digital Public Library of America.

And we enjoy the freedom to pursue our interests. Mittal, Indian Institute of Technology; from the ResearchGate website on 12 November 2014. [218] It pleases me that this statement was made by a person I had never heard of, who lives on the other side of the world, and who is an excellent applied-mathematician. Among the topics covered were applications of non-Newtonian calculus to digital image processing, rates of return, and other growth processes. [106] The geometric calculus was used in a course given by Joachim Weickert (Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize winner) at Saarland University in Germany in the summer-term of 2012: "Differential Equations in Image Processing and Computer Vision, CS 101". [173] In their article "A non-Newtonian examination of the theory of exogenous economic growth", Diana Andrada Filip (Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania) and Cyrille Piatecki (LEO, Orléans University, France) assert: "In this paper, we have tried to present how a non-Newtonian calculus could be applied to repostulate and analyse the neoclassical [Solow-Swan] exogenous growth model [in economics]. ...

For example, put C on the boundary of the disc, with A and B inside; then the identification of opposite boundary points means we cannot distinguish the two orientations of the triangle. Its had only negative who speak a different. The dissertation is entitled "Multiplicative differential equations and applications". Our book contained discussions between a student and a mathematician about the non-Newtonian calculi we had constructed in 1967. This will be followed by lunch at the University, an awards ceremony, and a tour of the campus. And in the bigeometric calculus, the power functions are the functions having a constant derivative. (The geometric derivative and the bigeometric derivative are closely related to the well-known logarithmic derivative and elasticity, respectively.) The well-known arithmetic average (of functions) is the natural average in the classical calculus, but the well-known geometric average is the natural average in the geometric calculus.
